Сгибы, незначительные надрывы, разводы, владельческие пометы карандашом на листе.

Письмо адресовано репрессированному критику, историку литературы Македонову Адриану Владимировичу (1909-1994). Долгое время Македонова связывала тесная дружба с Александром Твардовским. В представленном письме Маршак упоминает об этом: «Мы с Вами — очень старые знакомые. Я знал о Вас с того дня, как впервые встретился с Твардовским».
Также Маршак пишет о сдаче в печать воспоминаний «В начале жизни». В 1960 году повесть была напечатана в четвертом томе собрания сочинений поэта.
«А я живу попрежнему — много болею и много работаю».
